The technologies developed by GfaR allow for virtual optical experiments and are a key to photo-realistic image synthesis. Our expertise includes efficient rendering algorithms as well as physically accurate models for light scattering from complex materials such as cloth, skin and fibers.

Moreover, taking an image-based approach we are able to use optical cameras as reliable measurement devices. Using this technique material properties of real-world objects can be acquired and analyzed using standard hardware.
